Beleaguered Comair’s formal application for liquidation this week has opened South African skies up for the taking as an increasing number of routes open up on a continental and trans-Atlantic level.

With the application for Comair’s liquidation and Mango in business rescue, there are a number of routes open and the opportunity for other airlines to take up those routes exists.
Most operators are waiting until schedules are confirmed before they rebook, and everyone is holding thumbs and hoping that the flights will be able to resume in time for the June and July Mauritius holiday season.
Comair has reached agreement with Airlink to accommodate passengers holding a British Airways (operated by Comair) flight for travel 7 – 12 June 2022 who have been impacted by Comair’s suspension.
After 75 years of operations in South Africa, Comair is to go into liquidation. The carrier, which also ran the British Airways franchise in South Africa, started operations in 1948
